Experiential environmental education at The Forktree Project

The Forktree Project is breathing life back into a once-degraded pastoral property on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula. By planting tens of thousands of native trees, shrubs, and grasses, we're restoring vital habitats, welcoming back native wildlife, and locking away tens of thousands of tonnes of carbon. Through our native seed nursery and rare seed orchard, we collaborate with other restoration projects across the region, providing the resources and expertise needed to bring degraded landscapes back to life.
But our vision goes beyond rewilding. Through our experiential education program, we're inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards to step forward and take action. Our programs do more than create awareness: they empower students through meaningful, hands-on engagement in habitat restoration and sustainable practices, turning knowledge into action and concern into capability.
To inspire and empower young people to reconnect with nature, understand the challenges of biodiversity loss and climate change, and take meaningful action to restore habitats. We aim to create a culture of optimism and collective action—where schools, communities, and individuals work together to protect and enrich biodiversity for generations to come.
